YOU Can Make a Difference!

The 2011-2012 school year at Willow Springs is off to a great start! There are so many things to rave about: caring teachers and staff, more technology, a welcoming atmosphere, fabulous students, a real sense of community and dedicated parents!

Thanks to your fundraising efforts last year we were able to purchase another cartload of (30) iTouches for student use, upgrade our Accelerated Reading program to include over 131,000 quizzes, help every student with field trip costs, purchase new books for the library, fund Math & Science Night, repair erosion damage to the school grounds, and the list goes on…

Even more important are the hours that many of you donated in the classrooms and around the school. Research has shown that children of involved parents do better in school and on standardized tests, have fewer behavior problems, and are less likely to use drugs or alcohol. Whether you’re a working parent, grandparent, or have young children at home— you CAN make a difference! If you haven’t yet, get involved! I promise it will be worth your while—and fun! Don’t know how? Come have lunch, offer to help in a classroom (your child’s or another’s), volunteer at the Book Fair, chaperone a field trip—talk to the teachers, staff or other parents for even more ideas. If you haven’t already, next time you’re at school remember to register for your green star status.

Big or small, your help is needed, and appreciated! Please feel free to email me anytime.

Sincerely,

Anne Wingler, PTA President
