PTA Meeting May 2011

Robin made motion to approve budget, second by heather Cargile

Heather Carroll has breakdown of Spring Festival income.  Budget was $9000, brought in 11,653.22.  heather will forward income reports to megan to keep in spring festival folder for future use.

Suggestions for future spring festival - have a volunteer coordinator to make sure parent volunteers dont work more than their alloted time, keep an eye on prize boxes to ensure there are enough, use walkie talkies to talk to volunteers/front desk

heather Cargile and Leslie Richmond expressed an interest in co chairing the treasurers position.  Went over a few details on how co chairing the position could work.

5th grade graduation time has been changed for track 1 due to West lakes graduation.  Track 1 will be at 10:30, the other tracks will remain at 10:00

leslie introduced the Boosterthon Fun Run.  This is a company that runs the fun run start to finish.  Ballentine Elementary is using them tomorrow.  Megan Bidwell is going to see how it works.  Mrs Miller will then talk to ballentines principal to see how she felt about the experience and see what their priofit was.

All reimbursement requests must be in no later than June 10

Mrs Miller introduced a school calendar magnet catalog for us to peruse.  Interested in offering it with pta membeships next year.

need to check with kathryn/Kohls about kohls cares money from Book Fair

We need to set up a calendar of events 9both pta and school wide) to be given out at school orientation so parents have a better idea of what is going on, what money will be asked for

mrs Miller asked us to contact legislatures about the penny tax.  It is being introduced as a "new" tax and if not approved will mean BIG budget cuts for schools.
